Building your page using “Content Blocks”

Each page consists of a number of “Content Blocks”, which will be listed down the left side of the page. A content block is a section of pre-styled content to be placed on the page. Examples might include “Headline”, “Button”, “Image” or “Form”. Content blocks can be added, removed and reordered on the page. A couple content blocks, such as “Containers”, can contain nested blocks within them.

Editing a page by adding content blocks

Editing individual content blocks

Each individual content block comes with it’s own set of variables to adjust the way it looks and works. When a content block is added, click on the block name in the left panel to drill down into that block’s settings. Content blocks may be nested, for example, a “Container” block will have variable to set the variable background image and padding, and will also contain a list of nested content blocks to add inside the container. NationBuilder Settings

There are a number of variables we will need to set in NationBuilder, and not directly in the page builder because of a number of reasons. Maybe the variable is used elsewhere. (i.e. Event dates are neede for calendar pages), or maybe the variable is a result of an action by the user (i.e. whether or not the user has signed a petition).

These variables are not set in the panel on the left. Instead, they are set in the “NationBuilder Settings” panel. To open this drawer, click on the gear icon in the bottom right corner.

Changing values in this settings drawer will change the way the page may display. It’s important to note that you will need to update these settings in nationbuilder for the live page to display correctly. Please refer to the docs on the individual page types for more information on the settings you can change here.
